Game review: H1Z1

H1N1

H1Z1, the game that allows you to have more control over how you play! A survival game which allows you to jump from first-person to third-person viewpoint with the click of just one button.

This game is similar to the fan-favourite DAYZ, however it has a slight twist which makes it the better of the two by a mile. Unfortunately, this game is currently only available on PC, but don’t worry console players since Daybreak (the developers) have announced that they plan to release this game to PS4 and Xbox One at some point in summer this year.

H1Z1 used to be one game, which consisted of a survival game mode and a battle royal (to those confused as to what a battle royal is, it is basically a game mode like The Hunger Games). However, on the 17th of February 2016 H1Z1 was split into two different games; H1Z1 King Of The Kill and H1Z1 Just Survive. I personally dislike this change due to it adding extra hassle, such as having to close H1Z1 King Of The Kill and open up H1Z1 Just Survive if you wish to play survival mode. This is quite unlike before when you could just go to the games menu and select it from that screen. Although this split also has some positives, such as the cheaper game price now for those who just want to play one game mode.

I really enjoy this game due to the thrills granted to the player through aspects such as the PVP fights (Player VS Player), the bomb planes and of course the zombies. This game provides an amazing play experience due to the constant change in emotions and scenery. This game can also be played in a RP manner (Role Play), the only downside is this requires a lot of trust for the other players that you encounter since they could just turn around and kill you if they are granted an easy opportunity. This game also has vehicles in it which are discovered in random areas and can be driven by whoever is the first to stumble upon them. I personally like how easy it is to drive the vehicles since this allows every player to get the full experience from this game and the general learning path is very steady.

This game currently has some disadvantages to it due to being in early access, you sometimes stumble into glitches that can be very frustrating in the King Of The Kill section of the game. However, the developers are trying their best to fix these issues such as being shot behind cover, or bullets not registering as hitting enemies. This game’s advantages far outweigh the disadvantages, so I would recommend H1Z1 to anyone who enjoys survival and The Hunger Games style games.

How long will you survive?
