Most anticipated games of February

For Honour

February is never one of the big game release months but every year it throws out just enough games to get excited about. This year is no different and even though it isn’t super intense I’m still excited for the games coming out.

For Honour – January 14th for PS4, Xbox One and PC

I’m excited to play a hack and slash game where I can play as either a Viking, a samurai or a knight of old, I’m even more excited to play said game and for it to have immersive brutal combat that I can play online and destroy anyone who dares set foot near my giant axe. Taking place in a world where war is brought back full scale to see just who the strongest warrior is – this looks like a game that could be as savage as it is intelligent.

Nioh – January 8th for PS4

Nioh is a game made by Team Ninja who in the past made the unbelievably hard Ninja Gaiden series, and Nioh looks just as hard. Set in 1600 Japan you play a western samurai whose job it is to apparently annihilate literally everyone. Looking like an Edo period version of Dark Souls with possibly faster movement I think Nioh will be a game that doesn’t do fantastically well but will be one to delight whoever plays it.

Sniper Elite 4 – January 14th for PS4, Xbox One and PC

The Sniper Elite games have always been about killing people from really really far away and leaving without anyone ever knowing you were there, except when they do know you’re there and you have to scrap stealth and murder everything. Number 4 looks to be the same formula but with more open landscapes, better A.I and the return of the insanely gross and hilarious X-ray vision for when you nail a really good shot.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier – January 24th for PS4, Xbox One and PC

The Walking Dead by Telltale Games is by far the greatest story based action adventure series of modern times. The continuing story of Clementine and how she manages to survive is what has brought me back into the point and click, and The New Frontier looks to keep things going where series 2 left off. Expect intense decisions and moments of pure gut wrenching sorrow.

Lego Worlds – January 21st for PS4, Xbox One and PC

I’ll be honest to start with I couldn’t really see a point in Lego Worlds, Minecraft owns the world building genre and Lego already have their multi faceted ‘Dimensions’ series where you essentially play as every Lego Toy ever. That was until I saw game play and was instantly transported back to memories of building anything I could imagine as a young Lego enthusiast. Worlds looks to take this idea and put it onto a massive scale and without the need to buy 1 million Lego bricks.

Night in the Woods – January 21st PS4 and PC

This is the Indie darling of the list…and what a darling it is. Following the story of Mae as she returns home, NITW is a throwback to adventure games with beautiful graphics and a compelling story. From what I’ve seen so far this looks to be a poignant game that will possibly have people laughing, crying and everything in between as they play through the story of Possum Springs.

So that’s the games of this February, and I personally think that everyone who likes games should play each and every one…or at the very least read the back of the case and pretend you’ve played them.
