Another ball smashed out of the field with AKG’s N60 noise cancelling wireless headphones and boy do they score a sixer!

AKG introduced their wired version of the N60 over 12 months ago now which were also noise cancelling, offering precise mid and clean, detailed sound backed up with an excellent noise cancelling facility that left you feeling like nothing or nobody else was around you and just wrapped you up in your own enveloping sound bubble travelling on your way on the train, plane, automobile or on foot.
Like their predecessor, the N60 Bluetooth and noise cancelling headphones don’t disappoint. All the great features and sound quality, that clean cut and bass ready sound but now with added Bluetooth! Offering an easy setup Bluetooth connection using the latest 4.0 Bluetooth protocol and Apt X technology using AAC and offering superior sound enhancement. A simple slide down of the on button and while still holding down for a few seconds activates the Bluetooth pairing mode to connect to any Bluetooth phone or tablet. The headphones also come with a headphone cable as standard for connecting in passive mode enabling the noise cancelling without the Bluetooth connection. Battery life with Bluetooth and noise cancelling activated is a superb 15 hours while just a passive ANC (active noise cancelling) mode is a staggering 30 hours.
The styling of the headphones is different than the wired N60’s and AKG has listened to customer feedback, adding a more comfortable headband with less chance of sliding and added metal fixings instead of plastic ones on the outer attachment of the headband to ear piece. The headphones are on-ear but the pads are comfortable and shaped differently offering more cushioning and again adding to the noise cancelling experience. It really is like walking around with 2 sound proofing pillows attached to your ears!

On listening in Bluetooth mode to my first song and titled track by The Beatles “In My Life”, the sound is balanced and clean and the slight bass in the song is well-controlled offering a delightful sound. The instruments are precise and vocals warm.
Putting the headphones into more added pressure, I decided to ramp it up and experiment with the classic Led Zepplin track “Black Dog”. I was blown away with how controlled but powerful the bass was with the guitar. Bass and vocals were precise with mid range not lacking at all. Still wonderful with no distortion when cranking up the volume a few notches!
With a full frequency response of 20-20,000, the sounds are clean and precise at both ends of the frequency spectrum. The Bluetooth connection works faultlessly and is so much nicer without the cable dangling down or potentially catching on objects. The noise cancelling does not need many words here, it is tremendous! Very well designed and styled with a comfortable fit to go with them. Backed up with a clean and precise sound with well controlled bass, it is a pleasure to listen to any genre of music. The AKG N60 Bluetooth/Noise cancelling headphones really are the full package!
