It’s Aqua Blue! It’s Coral Red! – No, that’s not your latest car colour palette choice – this is the design choice from renowned designer and sometime TV manufacturer Loewe and their new We See 43 LED TV.
Having previously designed stunning OLED’s, they’re back from a brief respite and in the TV game again, but with a market so saturated, will they have something new to offer? We could easily argue that the TV, simply by having a bright, but pastel coloured back and fabric grille for the soundbar in either blue or red, is enough to offer, but being at the higher end of the cost, it’ll have to do more than that. We get this TV unboxed, and popped onto a tripod stand so we can really see if the 360 design from Loewe helps it hold up.
Cleverly tucked away input ports, cable management behind a detachable panel and even an artful little tag on the edge of the bezel all show the level of consideration that has been taken in designing this TV. Loewe could have easily just stuck their name on something built and designed elsewhere to try and justify the cost. But where’s the fun in that? The colour choice might initially seem garish, but it genuinely manages to suit all but the most minimal of rooms. As colleagues, we often here ‘I don’t want the TV to be the focus of the room’ which is of course fine – however, a tasteful blue or red underline to the inevitable black rectangle in your living room actually manages to help offset said rectangle.
How pretty or not it is aside, one extra ace in the hole for the We See 43 is the inclusion of a genuinely decent, Atmos capable soundbar – that’s the underline mentioned just now. The colourful fabric grille hides a bar that might not be the most cinematic thing going – but saves space, cabling and does without a subwoofer, if you’re looking to enhance the sound without adding more boxes and bits to your living space – clarifying speech and making things that little more exciting as it does so.
With the TV on, it will cleverly respond to ambient light in the room to ensure you’re getting the best picture. It’s worth noting that lots of screens have this feature, but there’s nothing else in the 43” size that does it as well as this. The picture quality is also extra impressive. Whilst edge-lit LED panels often get touted as cheap and prone to light bleed, the image is sharp and bright at all times, keeping the panel slim too!
The smart operating system is also excellent, the remote is responsive and feels premium, not plastic. With the same full range of apps as on Hisense’s VIDAA operating system (same store for apps), the rest of the interface is clean and simple as Loewe wanted it, really offering the best of both worlds.
Even directly facing a window, the We. See manages to stay detailed and impressive with a great range of colour, and good motion tracking on all but the most demanding of pictures – but really you’d be buying an OLED if you wanted the ultimate in performance.
If you’re looking for a 43” TV that can do everything you need, doesn’t need another soundbar to add extra force (and remotes) and is simple to use – get down to your local store and take a look at this TV, you won’t miss the blue or red when you drop in, and you’ll be glad you tried it.
