Product review: Samsung Q6F television range

Samsung’s QLED televisions have done very well since their release, offering the brightest and most colourful panels in the world, remaining near the top of the price ladder. However, things are starting to change, with the Q6F TV range coming in at a far more palatable price point…

Available in both 55″ and 65″ screens and keeping many of the high-end traits, the Q6F TVs boast a dazzling 1000 nits of peak brightness, which may sound excessive but it helps fend off any glare you may encounter whilst watching TV during the day. The set itself still boasts Samsung’s precision black and Q Colour, and does a phenomenal job in dark scenes, holding its own against other competing screen technologies like OLED.

A lower price point doesn’t mean Samsung have skipped any of the good stuff, with the Q6F still boasting that glorious 100% colour volume. For those of you who are unfamiliar, that basically means it is colourful – very very very colourful – which will offer brighter and more vibrant images. As well as HDR, the set also supports HDR 1000 for those super high resolution images and if that wasn’t enough, Samsung also use a peak illuminator that enhances detail in lighter and darker environments. When combined with the aforementioned HDR technology, you’re in for a real treat!

In true Samsung style, the Q6F is not the ugly duckling of the group, if anything its one of the more handsome sets they have on offer . Featuring Samsung’s ‘360 design’, the Q6F is just as much a joy to look at from the back as the front… should you ever stare at your television from the rear.

Also included is the fantastic One Connect box that moves all of the horrible cable mess away from the TV itself and into one neat and tidy box that you can hide away, which is made very easy with Samsung’s near invisible One Connect cable. As you would expect from pretty much any set in 2018 the Q6F is of course fully Smart, featuring Samsung’s Tizen operating system, which offers all the major catch-up and streaming services and TV Plus. While it may not have all the bells and whistles as some of the models higher up in the range, this is still an incredible set that I would be proud to have in my living room. This is a brilliant TV.
