‘The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water’ – Paramount Pictures
Released: 3rd August (Out Now!)

Every child’s favourite yellow sponge returns to the movie screen for the first time since 2004. Cue more random fun and frolics in the only way you could expect from Spongebob and co under the sea. With plenty of in-jokes for the adults and a notable CGI upgrade this will most likely be the most hotly anticipated family movie of the summer.

Will Ferrel stars as a high-flying stock broker who finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

‘Get Hard’ – Warner Bros Pictures
Released: 10th August (Out Now!)

An interestingly put together comedy starring Will Ferrell and comedian, Kevin Hart. In his usual form Ferrel borderlines ridiculousness as he plays a rich white-collar broker who lands in trouble for fraud. Following his jail sentence, he instantly fears for his life and recruits the nearest “gangster” to help him “Get Hard” to acclimatise to prison life. Hilarity ensues as you’d expect and Hart even manages to steal some of the limelight from Ferrel’s usual OTT performance!

‘Child 44’ – Lionsgate
Released: 24th August

Tom Hardy stars in this thrilling high-stakes drama as Leo Demidov, a Pro-Stalin security officer who goes on the hunt for a sinister criminal in the cold harsh Soviet winter. But without the support of a corrupt government will his hunt end in misery? It’s another brooding performance from Hardy in one of those roles that he’s seemed to make his own with the battle-scars and silent angst to prove it.

This second instalment of wacky time-travel action follows directly on from the first tale.

‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2’ – paramount Pictures
Released: 31st August

The time-travelling, drinking super buddies are back for another whirlpool adventure in the magical hot tub. After Lou (Rob Coddry) gets shot in his home the guys think that they can travel back in time to find the person who wanted him dead. However things take a turn and they end up in the year 2025 and have to work out what happened in the future to save the past. Anybody who saw the first film will know just how outrageously silly these movies are, well this instalment takes things up to a whole new level for sure!

This is just a small selection of the many movies set for release this month, don’t forget there’s also an enormous number of musical DVDs as well so if you think we’ve missed any why not share them with us in the comments section?
