Top games for April

Persona 5

We’ve selected the best games which are worth keeping an eye out for this month…

Persona 5 – April 4th PS4

Finally the fifth entry in the Persona series comes to western shores, and I couldn’t be more excited. Already gaining rave reviews in Japan when it was released in 2016, it looks to continue the trend of blending mundane and ridiculous to create an RPG that has gained cult appeal over the years. I’m looking forward to playing as a flamboyant cat burglar who can manifest their persona as a weapon by removing their mask!

Yooka-Laylee – April 11th PS4, Xbox One and PC

A massive kickstarter success from 2015, Yooka-Laylee is from some of the key creators of the Banjo Kazooie series. Looking to take us back to the days when 3D platformers were king with the aid of Yooka the chameleon and Laylee the bat, this is a game for anyone who put hours into the N64 classics, or anyone who likes controlling likeable characters through a stunning series of worlds.

Little Nightmares – April 28th PS4, Xbox One and PC

A puzzle platformer that utilises a small cute protagonist but at the same time is set in a nightmarish world full of horrible monstrosities that don’t seem to want to kill you but instead see you as a curiosity. Fear inducing and creepy as hell but at the same endearing and beautiful this is a game that needs to be played to be fully understood, and I can’t wait to try and understand it.

Micro Machines World Series – April 21st PS4, Xbox One and PC

It’s been a while since the tiny motors raced their way around myriad of pool tables, picnics, and kitchen counters and so I’m more than ready for more micro action. So far not much is known on whether it’ll play like the originals but it does have an emphasis on party play which always means hours of enjoyment.

Drawn to Death – April 4th PS4

A third person shooter/brawler that takes place in a high school notebook and utilises a biro aesthetic, with weapons like a fire breathing lizard! This looks like an interesting game and as it’ll be free with PS plus for the month of April it is one that everyone should give a go at least once.

Honourable Mentions

Not brand new games, but I feel that three remasters/re-releases deserve your time this month:

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition – April 7th PS4, Xbox One, PC

Bulletstorm was a fast and frenetic FPS that gave you big points for killing enemies in the most stylish ways. This remaster is more of the same but with improved graphics and some new modes.

PaRappa the Rapper Remastered – April 4th PS4

One of the greatest rhythm games gets a brand new coat of paint that extends into the echelons of 4K! A must have if you want one more chance to achieve “U rappin’ Cool!”

The Disney Afternoon Collection – April 18th PS4, Xbox One and PC

Bringing together some of Capcoms’ greatest Disney titles this collection includes Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, DuckTales 2 and TaleSpin.

So that’s what you should be looking out for this April. Of course there are always more games then we can list here so if you have any you’re looking forward to then don’t be afraid to comment.
