Top games for September

September is traditionally the month of sports games and this year is no different. If you’re a fan, you’re in for a treat, and if you’re not… well, there might be something for you as well.

ReCore – due September 13th for Xbox One and PC

ReCore could well be the game that carries on Megaman’s legacy, whilst also cleansing the failure of Mighty No. 9. Coming from a team lead by Keiji Inafune, this looks to be an interesting new game. It puts you in the shoes of Joule as you traverse the world, using different “Corebots” you find along the way to access new areas and defeat enemies. Inafune has fallen from grace since Mighty No. 9 and only time will tell if ReCore can help him ascend once again.

BioShock: The Collection – due September 13th for PS4, Xbox One and PC

The BioShock series is one that’s been touted with critical acclaim over the years for its storytelling and beautiful visuals. It’s only fitting then that the games get a makeover and bring their abilities to the new generation of consoles. Honestly, this is mostly worth it just for the original BioShock, which is rightfully deserving of being bought into the light once again, with the improved graphics modern gamers have become accustomed to. Add to this two more whole games, Bioshock 2 and Infinite, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a deal with The Collection.

Forza Horizon 3 – due September 27th for Xbox One and PC

The Forza Horizon series has become an interesting side venture for Forza, keeping all the physics of the main series but focusing more on fun than simulation. Forza Horizon 3 looks to be no different, taking place in the outback of Australia and featuring up to 350 cars (including a Reliant Robin) for you to tear around the open world in. So far looking to be unpredictably exciting, Horizon 3 will definitely be a visually stunning and wild ride.

Honourable Mentions

September is sports season for games, but I’m finding it harder to get excited about another addition to the yearly franchises. That being said, these games are huge and will be played by many many people, myself most likely included, and so deserve a mention.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 – due September 13th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

PES seems to be turning up the heat on FIFA, creating games that are trying to expand what a football game can be by improving free movement and precision.

NBA 2K17 – due September 16th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

The NBA 2K series is the only basketball game around, so if you like basketball and want the most up to date team rosters, then this is the game for you.

FIFA 17 – due September 27th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

FIFA 17 will continue the franchise’s movement towards being the most realistic football game around. Also this year, there’s a story mode?

So, September is a good-but-not-great month for new games, but luckily we have three of the biggest months of the year right around the corner and I’m stoked to play every game that gets thrown out of the machine!
