Top games for August 2016

August sees this year’s releases start to pick up steam, heading towards the busy Christmas extravaganza of game releases. It’s not the be all and end all, but there’s definitely a few decent games for us to get into while we wait for the AAAs to make their entrance later.

No Man’s Sky – Due August 10th for PS4 and PC

The wait is finally over and No Man’s Sky is here! Employing the use of procedural generation to create a completely open universe that could contain up to 18 quintillion planets, No Man’s Sky could possibly take the idea of playing a game and turn it into the closest experience to actual space exploration any of us will get to see within our lifetime.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Due 23rd August for PS4, Xbox One and PC

Adam Jensen makes his return, this time fighting global terrorism whilst trying to seek out the Illuminati, who were responsible for the incidents of the first game. Looking to continue in a similar vein of stealth cyberpunk action, Mankind Divided should offer something for both fans of story and fans of intense action.

The King of Fighters VIX – Due August 23rd for PS4

The King of Fighters games keep on coming, even after the games that the characters were taken from have long ceased to be. Changing from hand drawn to 3D sprites and using a game engine designed in-house by SNK, the 14th entry in The King of Fighters series should keep up the stellar gameplay of the previous entries whilst adding in a modern twist.

Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom – Due August 26th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, PC and PS Vita

Attack on Titan is, without a doubt, one of the greatest mangas/animes of all time, focusing on the battle between humans and giant, man-eating humanoids known as Titans. The game allows you to play through this story of human survival whilst utilizing the characters’ Spiderman-like “Vertical Maneuvering Equipment” to fly through the air and stop the Titan threat.

Assetto Corsa – Due August 26th for PS4 and Xbox One

Assetto Corsa is the pinnacle of realism when it comes to racing simulators and, since its original release on PC, has garnered fantastic reception and a large fan base. Finally coming to console, we lowly Xbox and Playstation owners finally get to play a game that looks to blow all other racing games out of the water.

So, in my opinion, these are the games you should be keeping an eye on this month. And of course, if you want any help getting the most out of your gaming experience then don’t hesitate to pop into your local store or give us a call to get some grade-A set-up advice.
