Pretty soon I’m sure you’ll all be heading down to the beach or having people over for a BBQ (weather permitting, of course). Some of you may even be setting sights further afield and taking a trip to, say, the Costa del Sol to enjoy some of that sweet Mediterranean sun…
Regardless of where you’ll be this summer, one thing I’m sure you won’t want to be without is music. It’s now become a common necessity that wherever you go in the summer, there must be music. We’ve seen a massive influx of portable Bluetooth speakers over the past few years and Roberts have just thrown another one into the mix. Usually known for making good quality radios, it has taken its years of experience and put it all into something as small as a modern smart phone. Here comes the What Hi-Fi? 5 star-rated Travel Pad.
With dimensions of 165mm x 80mm x 25mm, not to mention that it only weighs 336 grams, the word “travel” couldn’t be more apt. You can literally take this anywhere you want with minimal hassle. Because of this you may think that the build would be lacking, but not so fast. It has a glossy back panel and the whole speaker is surrounded by a protective rubber casing, which may come in need if you are as clumsy as I am…
The front speaker grille houses the two tweeters and a single bass driver. These give off a decent sound considering the size and weight of the Travel Pad. There’s not a lot of bass, but it’s pleasant and there’s enough there to keep you interested. Turn it up a bit and it’ll cope reassuringly well. The 12 hour battery life means you can keep the music playing without worrying when your favourite tune may cut out. AptX Bluetooth is included, along with NFC (near field communication) and an ever-so-handy 3.5mm auxiliary input.
With all of this in mind, it’s definitely worth having a listen to if you fancy a little bit of music on your travels, so contact your local Richer Sounds for a demonstration.
