Audio Technica adds yet another layer of functionality to an already great turntable with the LP60BT.
The Audio Technica LP60 turntable has long been a favourite for those of us looking for a compact, easy to use unit. The small size ticks the box for those of you with limited space and the light-weight design means it can be placed pretty much anywhere. The overall build does feel a little plasticky but this is a common feature amongst this level and price point. Don’t let the looks deceive you, the LP60 is a brilliant unit.
Not to everyone’s delight, however, is the heavy burden that comes along with turntables; an amplifier. Many of those new to the world of vinyl are not equipped with all the right gear, or at least don’t have the room for it. Those of you who can make peace with all this equipment have one last hurdle to clear and that’s speaker cables. Even with the use of a pair of active speakers, the turntable and speakers are still bound by wires and speaker cables.
Well, fear not as the good folk at Audio Technica have addressed this issue with this unit. Gone are the days of being tied down with a spaghetti junction of cables, and trying to figure out which amp and speaker combination will best suit your needs. All you need to get up and running is a Bluetooth speaker and that’s it. Most of us already own one, and those of you who don’t need not worry, its a very straight forward piece of kit.
Once armed with said Bluetooth speaker and your shiny new Audio Technica turntable, the two units need to be within the same room as one another and once a Bluetooth connection is established wirelessly, you’re free to enjoy your vinyl! Whether you’re a complete newbie or a seasoned music veteran, the set up of these units couldn’t be simpler.
Now I can’t stress enough that this is a very basic unit, designed as an entry level unit into the world of vinyl and using this method is not going to give that incredible vinyl sound you would get though a dedicated hi-fi system, so if that’s something your after then we can of course point you in the right direction.
