Richer Sounds Exeter Shop Fire

Due to extensive and devastating fire damage caused by a blaze, which started on Wednesday 27th July, Richer Sounds is unable to trade from its Exeter Shop in Sidwell Street until further notice. Richer Sounds Exeter staff will still be answering calls on 0333 900 0061 and offering customers advice and support with regards to home entertainment purchases.

It’s suspected that the fire emanated from the basement of the store, although definitive answers will be dependent on further investigations by Firefighters and Police Officers.

Deputy MD, Jez Avens, commented, “We’re extremely thankful that no one was seriously injured. The loss of stock and damage to property is inconvenient and upsetting, but these things are replaceable; people are not. Our focus is now on securing and reinstating the premises – both the shop and the flats above. We’re also putting in contingency plans so that our valued customers experience minimal disruption.“

Director, Julie Abraham, said, “We cannot praise the emergency services enough. Responses from the Fire Brigade and Police were exemplary and we’re grateful to the 50+ officers who helped to contain the fire and offered advice on how best to minimise damage.”

Directors on behalf of the company have stated that their Exeter staff will suffer no loss of wages whilst the store is unable to trade and all at Richer Sounds are committed to getting the shop trading as soon as it is safe and practical to do so.

Richer Sounds’ Telesales department will be able to offer Exeter customers free delivery of items, and their Plymouth and Bristol branches look forward to being able to deliver the Richer Sounds in-store experience to those customers that are willing to make the journey.

Exeter Store Manager, Mark Stidson, said, “I want to thank local businesses, the community at large, family and friends, who have rallied round and offered support, and apologise to anyone who was inconvenienced by the unfortunate events of Wednesday afternoon/evening.”

Customers should check the company’s website, www.richersounds.com, for any further developments with regards to the Exeter shop reopening.
