Product review: Panasonic TX24DS500B

TX-24DS500B

Now, it’s clear a lot of the television reviews we do on this blog are for all-singing-all-dancing flagship models, but what if you’re after a nice little television for the kitchen or the bedroom?

Well, Panasonic have now thrown their hat into the ring with the TX24DS500B: a simple, easy on the eye, very straightforward to use Smart TV for a fantastic price. It has a lot of features not normally found on much smaller sets, and the DS500 also benefits from a Freeview HD tuner and 2 HDMI inputs, as well as USB video playback.

myhomescreen_2Now, on to the Smart features. Once the television is connected to the internet (either by wi-fi or an ethernet cable) you will have full access to Panasonic’s “My Home Screen”. This is a completely customisable display, so you can chop and change and decide what you want to see. Unlike other brands which clog the screen with useless apps that you will never use, the Panasonic allows you to decide what you want and where you want it. As well as that, there is full access to BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5, meaning there’s no reason for you to miss out on anything, and you won’t have need for a separate recording box. You can also find your chargeable services such as Netflix and Amazon, and a full web browser (bear in mind the web browser can be a little tiresome to use with the remote).

If you’re after a small, secondary, very straightforward and easy to use Smart TV that ticks all the right boxes but doesn’t break the bank, then look no further. The Panasonic TX24DS500B is a brilliant option, and with the added extras of the main channel playback services it certainly has the jump over the other manufacturers’ offerings.

Feel free to pop into your local store any time and we can give you a complete run through and demonstration.
