Lena Headey as Cersei

We start off in King’s Landing for a whole 25 minutes, without bouncing back and forth between locations. The entirety of the sequence was filled with action, amazing visuals, and astounding acting.

The score in the finale, written by Ramin Djawadi, is phenomenal. Maybe a little different and unusual for a Game of Thrones episode, but still incredible. The use of strings and more heavy tones suits the episode well, especially the track used during the trial of Ser Loras Tyrell.

Over in Winterfell, we once again see the amazing character growth of Sansa Stark, as Littlefinger once again tries to seduce her, only to be pushed away. Jon Snow is hailed as the King in the North, and this scene holds particular significance as it almost replicates the scene where Robb Stark was given the same title.

Game of Thrones

Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen

We finally get the scene we’ve been anticipating since the beginning of the show six seasons ago… Daenerys is finally on her way to Westeros. The scene was visually amazing and left viewers with a sense of pride and awe as Dany sets off with an armada of ships, including those from Dorne and house Greyjoy, and three dragons who are guaranteed to wreak havoc on Westeros.

Throughout the episode, the visuals and special effects are amazing, from huge green explosions to beautifully intricate libraries. We also got to hear the one line that we’ve been waiting to hear since season one: “winter has come”.

The flashbacks were informative and entertaining, whilst also leaving us with more questions for the next season. We were left with a ton of major character deaths which is not unusual for Game of Thrones, but still came as quite a shock.

Jon Snow

Kit Harington as Jon Snow

There were amazing performances from all cast members, especially Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, and Kit Harington, whose stunning performances brought emotion and many memorable moments throughout the finale and the entire sixth season.

The season six finale is said by many to have been the best finale yet. It sets events in motion for the last two seasons while also ensuring that there is much more to come.
