Record Store Day – Exclusive live in-store performances

With April 18th just around the corner the final countdown to this year’s Record Store Day is drawing near. We’re excited to celebrate our love of music once again with a host of FREE live music events in Richer Sounds stores with Richer Unsigned. So here’s a full rundown of our amazing acts…

Thom Morecroft – 1.30pm
Birmingham Store, 10-12 Smallbrook Queensway

“Outstanding songs – very powerful,” said Paul Du Noyer (ex-editor of NME, Q, Mojo and Word Magazine)

Thom Morecroft is a Shropshire-born musician based in the north-west. An emphatic performer with a big voice, his live shows are charming and captivating with well-crafted songs. He has released two albums and has also enjoyed national radio acclaim as one of 6Music’s best picks for 2013. Listen here.

Brighton Store, 54 London Road

“Taking cues from the indie pop of Bombay Bicycle Club and Everything Everything, infectious hooks are given extra push with layered vocals and harmonies of a summery hue.” – ­ Q Magazine

JoelPeter are a five­-piece guitar band from West Sussex. Blending sun bleached guitar sound and pulse-­like rhythms their song ‘Chase you down’ was featured as Q Magazine’s single of the week. Listen here.

Bristol Store, 143 Whiteladies Road

“Aaron Douglas has clearly acquired some serious songwriting chops.” said Tom Robinson (BBC6 Music.)

Playing in his hometown store on April 18th the Bristol based singer songwriter is renowned for his passion filled story-telling sets. A former bassist and guitarist, his solo work has seen him play the Eden Sessions and Glastonbury Festival while also being featured in the Jan 2013 issue of Acoustic magazine. Listen here.

Croydon Store, 109 South End

As an emerging singer songwriter in London, Hannah Jane Lewis has already made a bit of a name for herself thanks to her raft of delightful Youtube covers. She has been likened to a young (well even younger) Taylor Swift for her well written and unique take on country music. Listen here.

“One of our absolute favourites and whenever we can get an excuse to play Alex Gregory, we will…” – BBC Introducing (Devon)

At just 17 Alex Gregory already released two EPs and played a string of shows attracting attention from BBC Introducing and a write up in Q Magazine. Now with her own band she brings even more life to her already enchanting catalogue of acoustic yarns. Listen here.

Hull Store, 88-90 Prospect Street

Playing upbeat folk and pop music, Danny Landau has supported artists like Kasabian and Paulo Nutini for whom he was asked to play guitar for permanently. Having turned it down he has gone on to record his own songs featured on BBC Introducing. Listen here.

The mystical and magical Lisa Marini has made ripples in the live circuit that are growing into waves. Combining well thought out lyrics with timeless melodies her music has captivated audiences all over the world, including a European tour and enjoying airplay as far as New Zealand. Listen here.

Plymouth Store, 87-89 Exeter Street

Tim Cresswell is a man with many strings to his bow, a qualified marine biologist and star of Channel 4’s ‘Three Hungry Boys’ to name just a couple.

As a songwriter Tim offers a moving mix of fierce and uplifting songs tailored to match his natural charm. On the Live scene he has developed an enthusiastic following for his intimate shows in and around the south-west and supported many well known artists. Listen here.

Unrestricted by genre, the band are all music fans with eclectic tastes and are not frightened to take risks. They’ve recorded in California with rock legend Brian Wheat and enjoyed airplay on several occasions with BBC Introducing. Romford Store, 73 Main Road

“A surprisingly mature and accomplished sound
for a band so young and a pretty unique sound at that.” – The Dublin Castle, Camden

Since forming in 2013 Juke have created a huge buzz from their hometown of Southend-on-Sea in Essex (famous for The Horrors). Their blend of punk rock and blues has gained rave reviews, with their live shows offering an energetic experience. Listen here.
